Songs of the Stags - limp cover

This book is in 3 parts and describes the author's experience hunting sika, red deer and wapiti, and covers virtually the whole of New Zealand. A 14 yr quest for a trophy sika in the central North Island. A major theme of the book is a plea for the balance between the need of the bush to remain healthy and the needs of the deer if they are to grow antlers of hunting trophy size. The book title refers to the roaring of the rutting stag, a sound once heard in a natural bush is never forgotten.
